Most Common Baseball Swing Flaws

The most common flaw I see in swings all over club and high school ball and even in hitting instruction from “experienced hitting coaches” is the incorrect idea that the hands should be level with the ball at contact. This not only makes zero sense when it comes to biomechanics. and body positioning. It is also NOT what any high level player does. Having hands level with the ball is incredibly inefficient mechanically and definitely will keep a good player from advancing in their career while their parent and/or hitting coach won’t have any idea why their player can’t quite get to the next level.

Every Swing is the Same!

One thing young or inexperienced hitting coaches don’t realize is that literally EVERY SWING IS THE SAME! Let me add a couple of details to that phrase. Every high-level swing is the same at contact. So yes, there are some parts of a swing that can vary. A batters resting posture can look different as they wait for the delivery. A hitters load can look different. The final step of the follow through can vary to a degree. But every high-level batter will look nearly identical at contact.
